I tend to follow the ground and then if I need to go past a doorway loop the cable up and over securing it as I go. You'll end up with a faster more reliable connection.

If you want to go wireless you could get a WiFi signal booster (make sure it’s ac and 5Ghz) or whatever they are called next to your PS4 and plug Ethernet cable from it to PS4. Another way could be sharing internet via Ethernet cable from a laptop or pc for example.
