Wake on LAN (WoL) allows to remotely power on PCs using a "Magic Packet" . As the service uses UDP broadcast packets, it requires the source and destination to be in the same broadcast domain (generally same subnet). If the WoL packet is sent form a different subnet than it's destination, it will not be allowed to pass through the SonicWall.
Oct 02, 2009 · I'm having trouble getting Wake on LAN to work across an ISA 2006 site to site VPN. Attemping this using unicast packets. I can see the traffic on both sides of the vpn link. Logs below. Still, the target machine doesn't wake up. When I send the same WoL packet on the local subnet it works fine. Any ideas? The connections work fine and i can ping all machines on the network. However when i try to use a magic packet to wake my machine up it does not work. I have tried sending the packet to 192.168.2.92 which is the machine i want to wake up.
